Getting Started: when you feel like adding to the wiki, you have three options:
-
Add to the article: all pages have an 'Edit' tab, just under the B in the Bear Valley Wiki logo at the top left of every page.
Click on it, and the current page text will appear in a text box where you can then proceed to make your contribution.
When you're in the edit page, note the text editor controls, like Bold, Italics, WWW link, above the text box. To use them, select the text you want in Bold, for example, and then click the Bold text control up above.
When you are done editing, you can hit Preview to see what the page will look like when you are done and ready to hit Save. Or you can just hit Save. Don't be worried about Save, you can always go back and Edit your contribution any time. - Create a new page: If you'd like add a new page somewhere in the wiki, then first Search for the page name of what you'd like to add in the Search box in the upper right corner of all pages. If a page exists with that name, then the Search results will show matches for your page name, and you may add to those page(s). If a page does not yet exist with that name, then the Search results will indicate that no such exact page exists, and you are asked if you want to Create a new page. If you click appropriately, you are taken to a page template where you can proceed to click Edit and create your very own page.
- DO NOT WORRY: You cannot break anything by editing. All wiki's have an easy method to 'revert' back to the previous page version. In this wiki, click on Info tab, then select a previous page to look at or to revert to. So do not worry: make your changes, and you can always go back to the way the page was before. And don't worry about the quality of your contribution. This is a community information resource, not the NY Times.
- Leave a comment: some pages, not all, will have a Comments section at the bottom. You can leave comments there if you prefer not to modify the subject article. For this option, just enter a Comment and hit Save.
