A Bear Valley homeowner since 1992. Received a phone call during the Music Festival of 1989 from wife Gloria saying, "You have got to see this place. Leave work Friday and come and stay the weekend." She was right, Bear Valley has been a very special place. Born in Manhattan and raised in Astoria, Queens, New York. Astoria has been home to Tony Bennett, Christopher Walken, Ethel Merman, Whitey Ford and Seinfeld's George Costanza's parents. After graduating from Aviation High School in NYC, decided that banging my knuckles on an ice cold engine block was not in my future. Who would have guessed that I would be doing the same thing on snowmobiles at 7,500 ft. Went on to SUNY at Stony Brook and got a BE, MS and PhD in Materials Science. Drove across the USA in a Ryder truck with Gloria in 1973. Only love to go back to the Big Apple in Spring and Fall. Raised two boys in Los Altos. Sheriff Rick is probably glad that they have outgrown that "boys will be boys phase" and matured into fine young men. They love Bear Valley. Wishing for a growth in Bear Valley that does not change the very special nature of this mountain town and the "least populated county in California."
