I need your help!
My name is Liz Collett. I’m a senior in the landscape architecture program at UC Davis and I have decided to focus my senior project on Bear Valley. My grandparents built the cabin that my entire family shares on Blood’s Ridge Road back in the 1970’s, so I have been lucky to grow up visiting Bear Valley on a regular basis. I absolutely love it here, so I thought it would be a great honor to do my project on a place I value so greatly.
The general scope of my senior project is to develop a set of development guidelines for the Bear Valley Village based on interviews and surveys of the permanent and part-time residents. Basically, I would like to know what YOUR favorite places in Bear Valley are. What are the places, views, buildings, businesses, and activities that are simply irreplaceable and should never be changed? Why are these places important to you? This is the type of information I would like to receive from as many Bear Valley residents as possible.
I want to be clear that my project is entirely hypothetical and in no way related to Dundee Realty USA’s recent acquisition of the ski area. Although new development is slated for the village, I am only using this notion as background information for my project.
So, Bear Valley residents and vacation homeowners, help me out! I would like to get as many responses as possible, so everyone is encouraged to participate. This includes Bear Valley enthusiasts of all ages. To help me out, simply email responses to the following questions to [

For our purposes the village will be defined as the entire valley on either side of Highway 4 (so, you could include the soccer field if you would like). These could be as specific as a certain rock or building or as broad as “the view from my cabin deck”. Please indicate in your response where these places are and why they are important to you. If you have a picture of each place and could send it along with your email, I would greatly appreciate it!
Examples: the small beach at the lake, the rocks above the Music Festival, the view from the top of Avalanche, Headwaters Coffee House, the XC Ski Area, etc.
