You can rent either 4 stroke or 2 stroke SKI-DOOs for overnight Cabin rentals, Alpine 2-6 hour trail rentals or Spicer 2 hour trail rentals. For kids and adults who do not want to drive, a great option is the kid-limo that you can tow behind as well in the Bear Valley subdivision.
The snomobiles are luxury deals in that they have electric start, reverse gear, hand warmers, etc...
Helmets and Sno-Park Passes are included in your rentals.
Reservations are HIGHLY recommended - weekends typically book up weeks in advance!
If you have a local driver's license ask about the LOCAL MID-WEEK SPECIAL which is a rent-one, get-one-for-free discount. Restrictions Apply: Proof of loal driver's license required, Tue-Thur only, holiday weeks excluded.
As far as things to do on the snowmobile, you can cruise the Bear Valley subdivision if you want to stay local, or you can arrange one of several
BV Snowmobile also is an official dealer for SkiDoo and have a bunch of 08 models coming in 11/07 - and there are a couple 2007 Legends left in their stock from last year. If you have the old pre REV platform snowmobile, you really ought to upgrade the new REV... it's night and day different in handling.

The BV Snowmobile website talks about a 12/17 projected opening date for many of the trails... so safe to assume that is when you'll be able to first rent.
Update on 12/23/06: talked with one of the guys at BV Snowmobile. They are looking into launching back country tours, eventually extending multiple day trips to Kirkwood. Now, that would seriously hunt, in my book anyway. Go for it BVS, and sign me up when you do anything backcountry. My Skidoo X800 is ready when you are.
