A full-timer, Old Sub...living in the vintage A-frame my Dad built in the summers of 66-67. Wait, it was never finished, but was warm and functional. After his too-soon death, we finished it.... real flooring, carpeting and re-did all 3 bathrooms due to carpenter ant damage. But this place is solid and so welcoming. It is quiet, happy and lives amongst a tree nursery my dad heeled in one summer to replant soon. Huh. time flies. Just cut one of those 'seedlings' for this years' Christmas tree. It was 30+ yrs old and crowded next to 50 others. Nonetheless, I cried.

I grew up being here/coming here all my life...just lately (6 years ago) made it my full-time home...cuz, now I can.

My Dad was here in the 30's..and somehow was around encouraging Bruce Orvis to do it. He was Harry Schimke...a renowned Mt man, forester, and good, good person. He knew tons about forest health, water ecology, logic, Monte Wolf, building, making things work, how to fix things with bailing wire etc etc etc. And a super father.

I work for USFS in the Summer months, upon urging of another full timer, and now it is just a habit. I know the area, the whims, the public visitations. The base is Alpine Station just up the road a mile. We care about directing visitors in the right way, and love roaming the forest/campgrounds/use areas to keep it a forest and a place of visitation, not exploit. We give good trail info, visitor info, and clean up after all the litterers. Nuff said.

The other side of my life is maintaining and being there for the Ebbetts Pass Historical Museum in BV town. We have a museum, a functioning membership, and promote and work hard to retain the Historical lore, artifacts, and documents of the Hwy 4 corridor from Arnold NE. I am the only volunteer in the winter. Other nice folks help in the summer. Our board is great...but are working 9 other jobs. We pull it off the best we can, and have a fantastic membership. Thank you all !!!

I used to be known as a folk artist, and still ply my learnings at times. I have the inventory waiting for me, if I ever get bored. I can paint Swedish, German, Americana, and contemporary motifs on glass, wood etc. Used to do faux finishes too, but there is too much ladder work for an past puberty gal.

My husband is a die-hard Basketball coach, retired, renewed, retired, renewed again -coaching and managing the Girls BB program at Sonora High School. We have a little abode in Murphys he commutes from, and gets up to BV when he can. He doesn't like snow, but is very supportive, and supplies a boatload of firewood for our winter use here. He loves fishing and hiking, so loves Summer in the high country.

Enough for now. was waiting ages to do this, so this knee-jerk reaction moment of 'too much information' may haunt me.
But there is the intro to this crazy person.
