Tony Zuccarino started this Wiki for us and deserves untold thanks. Others have picked up the ball and carried it a ways; these folks deserve kudos, too. But, instead of chatting away to each other in every corner of this Wiki and kind of mucking things up with what amounts to interdepartmental memos, maybe we should just yap away quietly in this little corner, eh?

2008-03-29 09:04:26 With the absence of Tony's stake (I will try to get there to fix soon)- we must be down to 4-5'. The fenceposts in the meadow are exposed. —SusiLewis
2008-04-22 10:56:59 Well, I don't think Tony's snow stake is a factor anymore this year. We are well into spring. They are working on plowing HWY 4. I hiked(snowshoed) up to Inspiration Point on Sunday. The Chickaree parking is open. The road(hwy4) beyond the Chickaree gate is plowed but is still closed. Spring BC skiing is in the air. —BobRynd
2008-04-22 15:08:54 That's Chicaree day use. Ya it has been open to 2nd gate for a while. Heard they are just past Stan meadows- couple days ago. Tis beginning to snow right now. —SusiLewis
2008-04-22 15:56:13 Thank you for the spelling correction. I'm admittedly a poor typist, and I never won a spelling bee. —BobRynd
2008-04-22 16:21:19 oh gosh... now that I look at it.. I think you were right! sorry for the wrong correction. I know that place well, so how could I do that? Must be the snow coming out of the sky. —SusiLewis
2008-04-22 16:49:24 Snow??? It's not supposed to add up to much. We really missed having a good snow dump this spring. It would have added considerable to the water tables and supplies. New Melones is waaay down, maybe 100 feet from high water mark. —BobRynd
2008-04-23 07:04:28 this morning measures 4-5" on my 'used to be dry' deck. I agree, we need more moisture. No plows out yet. —SusiLewis
2008-04-23 09:54:41 Susi, been out of touc for a while and i DO hope to come up this weekend... but are they planning on plowing the new sub soon? —TonyZuccarino
2008-04-23 10:41:51 I heard they will begin on the 5th. Still some grooming funds, but the plowing budget is used up...so they aren't gonna do anything too soon. It has to last. —SusiLewis
2008-04-23 10:42:43 THe 'roads' in sub were patchy already...some bare spots, and the avg depth elsewhere, 1'. —SusiLewis
2008-04-24 09:28:00 so it's still snowmobiles for this weekend then... I just love wasting away my carbide rails on the asphalt... —TonyZuccarino
2008-04-24 11:33:50 Bob et al: For the Spring skiing, go directly to Arnot Peak and shed 2000' ft. runs for about a week. As I may have mentioned to you earlier, the East Canyon is over 1000 ft. before it turns in to a natural half-pipe running at least 1/2 mile or more. I refer to this line as "The Peace Pipe" (the sepia photo of Arnot Pk. ski tracks in 'Eye Candy' was taken during a low snow year). Bail out skiers left and follow the illegal snowmobile tracks out over Wolf Pass on the PCT back to Highland Lakes. (Don't follow the river!) The S.E. Bowl is kinda death trappy (puts Underwood Valley to shame!); but, the entire western side—bowls, cricks and canyons—is like 2000 ft of Sugar. —DanAhlborn
2008-04-24 13:00:28 Hi Dan, Thanks, You can be sure Arnot Peak is a must do this Spring. The snow on the N, NE, E slopes is holding up well. All I need is a bit more access, like a snowmobile. Dr. Nick G. are you listening? —BobRynd
2008-04-24 13:02:07 Dan, I never heard your story as to why the abrupt departure to MN. Will you be returning to BV anytime in the near future? —BobRynd
2008-04-24 13:27:35 Dan, hiked/skied Underwood Valley a couple of weeks ago. Check it out(view in "high quality"):
